Our Mindful Birth Prep Event in Columbia, MO

Two weeks ago, on March 3rd, 2026, Monique White, DC, MS, ICCSP, and I hosted our second Mindful Birth Prep Event at Advanced Physical Health in Columbia, MO. We invited Kristie Wright, DPT, from Libertas Physical Therapy to join us to discuss pelvic floor health during and after pregnancy. Here are the websites to Advanced Physical Health and Libertas. It was so exciting to connect with the pregnant families and other perinatal providers who came to the event! I am writing this blog post to share a little bit more about our hearts behind the event, and our future hopes for the event as well.

First and foremost, I would like to share how grateful I am for Dr. Monique and her excitement to host these events with me. She is such a valuable resource for pregnant and TTC families in the Columbia, MO area. When I approached her over a year ago to see if she would be interested in hosting this event with me, she very thoughtfully and excitedly talked through what the event could look like, with us both sharing the goal to connect with and support pregnant and TTC families in the area. Her heart for serving others is so inspiring to me. If you’d like to learn more about Dr. Monique, here is a link to the blog interview that I posted with her last year.

In addition to sharing hands-on tools for labor and birth, another goal of this event is to focus on ways to support your mind and body during all stages of pre- and post-conception. For this event, it was pelvic floor physical therapy. Since our first event last year, we have been connecting with providers in the area who have expressed interest in joining us at future events. Their areas of expertise include mental health and psychiatric care, nursing support at the hospital, lactation support, and child education. We are so excited to continue to share this amazing information with the community at future Mindful Birth Prep events!

An additional goal of this event is for those who attend to connect with the other families and providers also attending the event, to hopefully continue to grow their connections and support network in the area. The perinatal timeframe can be so difficult without some sort of community, so we are honored to help start these connections. It can be helpful to sit with a family in the same stage as you and relate to the good and the bad that comes along with it. We so greatly enjoy it when those attending stick around after the event to talk and enjoy some yummy cinnamon rolls!

If you have any questions about this event, please reach out! Keep an eye on my Facebook page for when we announce our next one!
